I'm so glad that Blogger just implemented this feature into its comments system. I was currently adding blog post comment RSS feeds (huh?) that I contributed to to my growing and somewhat disgusting (OK, I admit addiction) number of RSS feeds (currently 137). That messy process is now over and I'm happy to have all of the follow up comments invade my inbox. Two positives I see from this option.
- Blogging and commenting is a very good medium for questions and answers. You've got "person A" interested enough in something to actually write about it just because. You've got "person B" who enjoys "person A's" writing enough to read it consistently. A match made in heaven for conversation. Responses to questions seem to show up quicker when you're asking about something that you know the other person has legitimate interest in....amazing concept.
- A friend of mine pointed out that blogging is an excellent way to keep up with friends and I've found this to be true. I would consider most of my feeds to be niche news feeds but a few are personal blogs of friends, and it's nice to see what they are doing every once in a while (without bothering them and trying to explain Jaiku, Pownce, or Twitter).
